\u201cGoodfellas<\/strong>,\u201d \u201cField of Dreams<\/strong>\u201d actor Ray Liotta has passed way. According to his publicist, Jennifer Allen, Liotta was in the Dominican Republic shooting his movie, \u201cDangerous Waters<\/strong>,\u201d <\/i>when he died in his sleep.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The actor is perhaps best known for his role as Henry Hill in the 1990 Martin Scorsese movie, \u201cGoodfellas<\/strong>,\u201d <\/i>where he helped shape the idea of a gangster movie for years to come. The movie was based on the non-fiction book, \u201cWise Guy<\/i> by Nicholas Pileggi.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Raymond Allen Liotta was born in Newark, New Jersey, on December 18, 1954,\u00a0 <\/span>after he was abandoned at an orphanage, he was adopted at the age of six months by a car store owner Alfred Liotta, the son of Italian Immigrants.<\/p>\n

Then, he started acting at the University of Miami, where he majored in drama and performed Cabaret, Oklahoma, and Sound of Music.\u00a0 <\/span>After graduation, while he was working as a bartender, he got an agent and landed the roles was as Joey Perrini on the soap opera, \u201cAnother World<\/strong>,\u201d which he appeared from 1978 to 1981. After he quitted the show to explore a chance in films industry. The he got his breakout role was in 1986’s “Something Wild<\/i><\/strong>,” directed by Jonathan Demme.<\/p>\n

Liotta followed that with an acclaimed performance as baseball player \u201cShoeless\u201d Joe Jackson in the box office hit \u201cField of Dreams<\/strong>\u201d with Kevin Costner. His most memorable role, perhaps, was as real-life mobster Henry Hill in the 1990 film \u201cGoodfellas<\/strong>,\u201d which cast him opposite heavy hitters Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.<\/p>\n

Liotta\u2019s many film and television credits include \u201cJohn Q<\/strong>,\u201d \u201cBlow<\/strong>,\u201d “Narc<\/strong>,” “Control<\/strong>,”\u201cOperation Dumbo Drop<\/strong>,\u201d \u201cHannibal<\/strong>,\u201d and \u201cUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt<\/strong>.\u201d\u00a0More recently, Liotta narrated the TV docuseries \u201cThe Making of the Mo<\/strong>b\u201d and starred in \u201cThe Many Saints of Newark<\/strong>,\u201d the prequel film to the hit television mob series \u201cThe Sopranos.\u201d\u00a0Liotta was engaged to Jacy Nittolo and has a daughter, Karsen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Celebrities paid tribute to the \u201cShades of Blue<\/strong>\u201d actor across social media on May 26.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very saddened to learn of Ray\u2019s passing, he is way too way young to have left us. May he Rest in Peace.\u201d said by \u201cGoodfellas\u201d<\/strong> co-star Robert De Niro.<\/p>\n

Another \u201cGoodfells<\/strong>\u201d co-star, Lorraine Bracco write on twitter, \u201cI am utterly shattered to hear this terrible news about my Ray, I can be anywhere in the world & people will come up & tell me their favorite movie is Goodfellas. Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same\u2026Ray Liotta\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alessandro Nivola, who appeared alongside with actor Liotta in the 2021 \u201cSopranos\u201d prequel film \u201cThe Many Saints of Newark<\/strong>,” he said on twitter,\u201d RIP Ray Liotta. I feel so lucky to have squared off against this legend in one of his final roles,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThe scenes we did together were among the all time highlights of my acting career. He was dangerous, unpredictable, hilarious, and generous with his praise for other actors. Too soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Jennifer Lopez, who co-starred alongside Liotta for three seasons in the NBC cop drama \u201cShades of Blue<\/strong>,\u201d\u00a0shared her thought on twitter.<\/p>\n

Ray was the epitome of a tough guy who was all mushy on the inside \u2026 I guess that\u2019s what made him such a compelling actor to watch.
