A Swedish filmmaker from \u201cThe Square<\/strong>,\u201d Ruben Ostlund has won his second Palme d\u2019Or for \u201cTriangle of Sadness,”\u00a0a critical satire of the rich and influencers, following his victory for 2017’s “The Square<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Ostlund tonight joined an elite group of filmmakers who have taken two Palmes, including the Dardenne brothers who were awarded a special 75th anniversary prize this evening for their \u201cTori And Lokita<\/i><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were 21 films in the competition this year, including from some of the high-profile films like David Cronenberg\u2019s \u201cCrimes Of The Future<\/strong>\u201d<\/i> and Park Chan-wook\u2019s \u201cDecision to Leave<\/strong>,\u201d and James Gray\u2019s \u201cArmageddon Times<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/i> and Hirokazu Kore-eda\u2019s \u201cBroker<\/strong>.\u201d <\/i>The Cannes Festival also hosted the world premiere of some of the out-of-competition films including Baz Luhrmann\u2019s “Elvis”<\/i> <\/strong>and Tom Cruise\u2019s latest outing, \u201cTop Gun: Maverick<\/strong>.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
