As Anthony Russo said, \u201cPart of the pressure [not to kill off the character] came from Jon Favreau, who called us up after he read the script \u2026 and said to us, \u2018Are you really going to kill Iron Man?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>Anthony\u2019s assessment was corroborated by brother Joe, who added: \u201cHe did. Yeah. And I remember pacing on the corner of a stage on the phone with Favreau trying to talk him off a ledge. Because he\u2019s like, \u2018You can\u2019t do this. It\u2019s gonna devastate people, and you don\u2019t want them, you know, walking out of the theater and into traffic.\u2019 We did it anyways.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>The ultimate decision to erase Tony Stark from the universe was also defended by <em><strong>Avengers: Endgame<\/strong> <\/em>scriptwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
