The reboot is expected to premiere on Hulu, though a director has not yet been announced.<\/p>\r\n<p>Not surprisingly, the studio is hoping that this revival might appeal to today\u2019s more diverse audiences. As reported by <em>Deadline<\/em>: \u201c20th Century sees this as a timely property and views Gomez as the perfect partner on the project \u2026The original is very much a relic of the \u201980s, but there are lots of possibilities to modernize the story, particularly if Gomez and Pe\u00f1a explore the perspective of Latina women in the workforce.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>Directed by Mike Nichols, the original 1988 <em><strong>Working Girl<\/strong><\/em> starred Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver and Joan Cusack. It followed the escapades of a secretary who assumed her boss\u2019s identity when he suffered a broken leg. It garnered more than $100 million domestically and won six Oscar nominations. An attempt was made several years afterwards as an NBC series with Sandra Bullock, but it was cancelled due to low ratings.<\/p>\r\n<p>Gomez is currently starring opposite Steve Martin and Martin Short in the Hulu comedy<strong><em> Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/strong>, for which she is also executive producer. It is now in its second season, having already captured several Emmy nominations, including one for Best Comedy. Gomez is also starring in and producing <em><strong>Selena + Chef<\/strong><\/em> for HBO Max. She originally came to prominence for her performance in <em><strong>Wizards of Waverly Place<\/strong><\/em> for the\u00a0 Disney Channel.<\/p>\r\n<p>Having been one of the writers for <em><strong>Crazy Ex-Girlfriend<\/strong><\/em>, Pe\u00f1a also created the hit Disney+ series <em><strong>Diary of a Future President<\/strong><\/em>.
