Katie Aselton is an accomplished actress who has delivered memorable performances in TV series like The League, Togetherness<\/em><\/strong>, and Legion<\/em><\/strong>. She has also stepped behind the camera\u00a0to write and direct the dramatic comedy The Freebie<\/em><\/strong> and the thriller Black Rock<\/em><\/strong>. For her third feature as director, Aselton isn\u2019t the screenwriter or the star, helming the story of a young writer (Elizabeth Lail) whose desire to embrace her inner old soul finds her waking up in the body of a seventy-year-old woman (Diane Keaton).<\/p>\n

I had the chance to speak with Aselton about working on someone else\u2019s script without being in the cast, getting to direct the iconic Diane Keaton, and having a whole group of female comedy legends in the cast.<\/p>\n

Film summary:<\/p>\n

When 30-year-old self-proclaimed homebody\u00a0Mack\u00a0Martin (Elizabeth Lail) reluctantly joins a Palm Springs bachelorette trip for her best friend Carla (Taylour Paige), her inner 70-year-old is released \u2014 literally. The frustrated writer and influencer magically transforms into her future self: \u201cAunt\u00a0Rita\u201d (Oscar\u00ae<\/sup>-winner Diane Keaton).\u00a0 Freed from the constraints of other people\u2019s expectations,\u00a0Rita\u00a0comes into her own, becoming an unlikely social media sensation and sparks a tentative romance with\u00a0Mack\u2019s adorable dog-sitter, Jack (Dustin Milligan).
