Leon Vitali, Stanley Kubrick’s right-hand man, passed away at age 74.<\/p>\n
Born in Warwickshire, England, Vitali began her career performing in a variety of television series in the early 1970s, including \u201dZ Cars<\/strong>,\u201d \u201dThe Fenn Street Gang<\/strong>,\u201d and \u201dNotorious Woman<\/strong>.\u201d\u00a0Then, he did enter into a life-changing experience with the auteur, Stanley Kubrick, he had roles in 1975\u2019s \u201dBarry Lydon<\/strong>,\u201d in which he played Lord Bullingdon, and \u201dEyes Wide Shut<\/strong>,\u201d which also features a nod to Vitali in the form of a newspaper headline read by Tom Cruise\u2019s lead character.<\/p>\n It was after his role in the former that Vitali struck up a friendship with Kubrick, and earned a \u201cpersonal assistant to director\u201d credit on his 1980 Stephen King adaptation of \u201dThe Shining<\/strong>,\u201d he went on a great search for casting Danny Lloyd for the role of Danny.<\/p>\n He was also the casting director for 1987\u2019s “Full Metal Jacket<\/strong>,” which starred Matthew Modine, he also stayed on with Kubrick to work on the editing process as well as preserve his films.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt is with the greatest of sadness that we have to tell you that the mainstay of a vast number of Kubrick\u2019s films, Leon Vitali, passed away peacefully last night,\u201d an official Kubrick-related Twitter account said. \u201cThoughts are with his family and all that new and loved him.\u201d<\/p>\n I had a pleasure of talking to him for his documentary, “Filmworker<\/strong>.” Here’s the interview<\/a>. \u00a0May he Rest In Peace.<\/p>\n Here’s the trailer of the film<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
