He gave no details about how the injury happened but said that \u201cthe road back will be long.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Black said in an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/dlanceblack\/\"> Instagram posting<\/a> that the injury put him out of commission for a while. He was last seen in public in July at Wimbledon and at Windsor Castle with his husband Tom Daly, the Olympic diving gold medalist.<br \/><br \/>As he continued: \u201cShowing little improvement, my doctors ordered me to shut off my brain in hopes of it healing. This has been a challenging, frightening time for a creative type who depends on what\u2019s in his skull to work, care and love.<br \/><br \/>\u201cBut this week my sweet, over the top husband took us to the Greek Islands to make me shut off. I can already feel this trip is a step in the right direction, and I finally feel safe sharing a bit again. Thank you for all of your love and patience. More to come. Promise.\u201d<br \/><br \/>While he released no details about how he incurred the injury, it had been widely reported that Black was involved in an altercation at a bar in the UK with British TV star Teddy Edwardes, who claimed that Black had allegedly thrown a drink at her. <br \/><br \/>Black won an Oscar in 2008 for best screenplay for <em><strong>Milk<\/strong><\/em>, his film about the San Francisco gay activist Harvey Milk. The prolific writer is also the creator of <em><strong>Under the Banner of Heaven<\/strong><\/em>, a limited true-crime series by FX, and wrote the script for the forthcoming <em><strong>Rustin<\/strong><\/em>, a film directed by George C.
