Greek-born filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos will be adding Joe Alwyn to the cast of “And<\/strong><\/em>,” his next picture, which is going into production in New Orleans soon. Alwyn, who starred in the director\u2019s Oscar-winning film, The Favourite<\/em>, will be joining Emma Stone in the cast of the new flick. “And”<\/strong> <\/em>will mark Stone\u2019s fourth collaboration with Lanthimos; she had also earlier appeared in “The Favourite”<\/strong><\/em> with Alwyn.

“And”<\/strong> <\/em>is being developed by Searchlight Pictures, which has released few details about its plot and characters. Alwyn\u2019s involvement was lauded, however, in a joint statement issued by the studio\u2019s presidents Matthew Greenfield and David Greenbaum, who declared: \u201cWe are so excited to be collaborating with Joe once again after our extraordinary journey together on “The Favourite.”<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0He is a brilliant actor and a welcome addition to the all-star cast Yorgos has put together here.”<\/p>\r\n


Alwyn had made his film debut just six years ago, playing the title role in “Billy Lynn\u2019s Long Halftime Walk<\/strong><\/em>,” a war film directed by Ang Lee based on a novel by Ben Fountain. The actor has since starred in such productions as “Mary Queen of Scots, Harriet,” “The Souvenir Part II<\/strong><\/em>,” and “The Last Letter from Your Lover<\/strong><\/em>.” Other credits include roles in “Catherine Called Birdy,” “Stars at Noon<\/strong><\/em>,” and “Conversation with Friends<\/strong><\/em>.” Also a talented songwriter, Alwyn nabbed a Grammy for his contributions to Taylor Swift\u2019s 2020 album Folklore<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n

Earlier in her career. Emma Stone had appeared in several television productions as well as a series of teeny-bopper comedy films such as “Superbad,” “Zombieland<\/strong><\/em>,” and “Easy A<\/strong><\/em>,” the last of which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. She achieved wide recognition in the role of Gwen Stacy for the 2012 superhero film “The Amazing Spider-Man”<\/strong><\/em> and its 2014 sequel.<\/p>\r\n

Besides Stone and Alwyn, the other cast members of “And”\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>include Hong Chan, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemos, and Margaret Qualley. Dafoe and Qualley also appear in “Poor Things<\/strong><\/em>,” another Lanthimos film that is now in post-production and is scheduled for release in 2023. The script for “And”<\/strong> <\/em>is being written by Efthymis Filippou, who did similar honors for “The Lobsters<\/strong><\/em>.”
