Showtime\u2019s Let the Right One In <\/em><\/strong>is a stirring reimagining of the 2004 Swedish novel that has been adapted as both a Swedish and American film, following a protective father, Mark (Demi\u00e1n Bichir), who secures human blood to feed his twelve-year-old vampire daughter Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez). The show has an uplifting spirit to it despite its inherent darkness.<\/p>\n

I had the chance to speak with Bichir, an Oscar nominee for his role in 2011\u2019s A Better Life<\/em><\/strong>, about the experience of working on the series and the memorable seventh episode in particular. He also touched on his past collaborations with filmmakers like Ridley Scott and Quentin Tarantino.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the original hit Swedish novel and film,\u202fthe series centers on Mark (Demi\u00e1n Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez), whose lives were changed 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive. With these emotionally charged and terrifying ingredients as a starting point,\u202fLET THE RIGHT ONE IN\u202fwill upend genre expectations, turning a naturalistic lens on human frailty, strength and compassion.<\/p>\n
