Lionsgate and a New Jersey native filmmaker Kevin Smith are teaming up again to work on Smith\u2019s long-awaited \u201cMoose Jaws<\/strong>\u201d project \u2013 \u201cMoose Jaws\u201d is intended to be the final installment of his True North trilogy,\u00a0<\/span>which primarily takes place within Canada.<\/p>\n

It all started with “Tusk<\/strong>,” which is about a podcaster named Wallace Bryton (Justin Long) who gets turned into a human walrus by Howard Howe (Michael Parks). The 2016 second installment, “Yoga Hosers<\/strong>,” is about the two Canadian store clerks from the previous film, Colleen Collette (Lily-Rose Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley Quinn Smith), who get into a battle against an army of Bratzis. Bratwurst Nazis.<\/p>\n

Fangoria<\/a> reports that Smith officially announced in a Q&A at GalaxyCon a few weeks back (But the video appearance is only going online this week) that he is finally getting to work on the horror-comedy.<\/p>\n

Smith previously hinted at “Moose Jaws<\/strong>”\u00a0<\/i>in the past, teasing that the movie follows the same premise as the 1975 classic Jaws<\/i> but instead focuses on a moose causing terror and mayhem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[Moose Jaws] is a movie I\u2019ve been threatening to make for a long time, but thanks to the good folks at Lionsgate, it\u2019s actually going to happen\u201d. This all comes down to the success of \u201cClerks 3<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cJay & Silent Bob Reboot<\/em>\u201d on home video. It turns out the distributor sold enough Blu-rays and DVDs of the films that Smith has been able to get a whole slate of films greenlit with them. Lionsgate was particularly keen on the \u201cMoose Jaws<\/strong>\u201d idea: \u201cI said, \u2018I got this movie called Moose Jaws,\u2019 and they were like, \u2018What\u2019s Moose Jaws?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Moose Jaws is like Jaws but with a Moose instead of a shark.\u2019 And they said, \u2018What\u2019s the budget for that?\u2019 I was like, \u2018About three million bucks,\u2019 they\u2019re like, \u2018We\u2019ll make four of them.\u2019 So it looks like Moose Jaws is finally gonna happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other films on the slate include the \u201cMallrats<\/strong>\u201d sequel \u201cTwilight of the Mallrats<\/strong>,\u201d\u00a0another \u201cJay and Silent Bob<\/strong>\u201d film and a sequel to \u201cRed State\u201d <\/strong>and a new original film titled \u201cThe 4:30 Movie<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n
