{"id":15710,"date":"2023-03-16T17:01:59","date_gmt":"2023-03-16T21:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=15710"},"modified":"2023-12-12T06:05:02","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T11:05:02","slug":"james-gunn-to-direct-superman-legacy-for-new-gods-and-monsters-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=15710","title":{"rendered":"James Gunn to Direct &#8216;Superman: Legacy&#8217; for New &#8216;Gods and Monsters&#8217; Project"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>If the Man of Steel is supposed to be \u201cfaster than a speeding bullet,\u201d then James Gunn is cocked to firing the weapon.<br \/><br \/>Gunn announced via Twitter that he plans to direct his own script for<em><strong> Superman: Legacy,<\/strong><\/em> a film that will debut DC\u2019s \u201cChapter One, Gods and Monsters\u201d project being launched by himself and Peter Safran.<br \/><br \/>The announcement came as no surprise: Gunn revealed last fall that a new Superman film would be in the works\u2014but without Henry Cavill in the title role since<em><strong> Superman: Legacy<\/strong><\/em> would be dealing with the character\u2019s early days as a young Clark Kent born on Krypton but raised in Smallville, Kansas.<br \/><em><strong>.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>Though Gunn is still looking for an actor to portray the younger Superman, it\u2019s likely other DC actors will remain in their roles, such as Gal Gadot\u2019s Wonder Woman, and Jason Momoa\u2019s Aquaman. But Gunn said in December that he was a big fan of Cavill, and \u201cwe talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.\u201d<br \/><br \/>According to a just-released plot synopsis, <strong><em>Superman: Legacy<\/em><\/strong> is poised to \u201c[tell] the story of Superman\u2019s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. It has been a long road to this point.
