Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender, a married couple in real life, are slated to appear in key roles in the upcoming feature Hope<\/strong><\/em>, by Korean director Na Hong-Jin. It will be Na’s first film since The Wailing<\/strong><\/em>, his hit from 2016. Vikander and Fassbender recently appeared in The Danish Girl<\/strong><\/em> and in 12 Years A Slave<\/strong><\/em>, respectively. The couple had earlier appeared together in The Light Between Oceans<\/strong><\/em>.

Hope<\/strong><\/em>, which will mostly be in the Korean language, will focus its lens on the residents of a remote seaside town named Hopo Port as they desperately struggle for survival against a threat to their very existence. It\u2019s anticipated that Vikander and Fassbender will perform their roles in English, however.

Na Hong-Jin was quoted as saying this week: \u201cOftentimes, a person\u2019s goodwill can lead to unintended catastrophe simply because of differences in perspective. My hope for this film is to cinematically capture that phenomenon in a way that has yet to be seen.\u201d

As a spokesperson for Plus M added: \u201cDirector Na\u2019s new project Hope<\/em> <\/strong>is not only a high-quality film but an enthusiastic project that has the potential to expand its IP to various content distribution channels. Above all, we\u2019ve decided to invest in this project because we have the utmost trust in director Na\u2019s creative vision. Plus M will collaborate and support Hope<\/em> <\/strong>to make it a global success.\u201d

In addition to their roles in Hope<\/strong><\/em>, both Vikander and Fassbender have a full dance card ahead of them. She will be starring as one of Henry VIII\u2019s wives in Karim Ainouz\u2019s Firebrand<\/strong><\/em>, in which Jude Law will play the much-divorced-and remarried Henry. And Fassbender will soon be appearing in Taika Watiti\u2019s Next Goal Wins<\/strong><\/em> and starring in The Killer<\/strong><\/em>, a film David Fincher is making for Netflix.<\/p>\r\n

Hope<\/strong> <\/em>will be produced under the auspices of Na\u2019s production outfit, Forged Films. International sales will be managed by Plus M, with North American sales to be handled by UTA Independent Film Group and Plus M.
