Jackson and Park Seo-joon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marvel Studios has dropped a new trailer for a highly anticipated film, \u201c<strong>The Marvels<\/strong>,\u201d which Brie Larson\u00a0is getting back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the sequel to 2019\u2019s \u201c<strong>Captain Marvel<\/strong>.\u201d This time, Larson shares the spotlight with fellow female MCU stars Teyonah Parris from \u201cWandaVision\u201d and Iman Vellani from \u201c<strong>Ms. Marvel<\/strong>.\u201d The follow-up to Carol Danvers\u2019 origin story takes place after the Disney+\u00a0series \u201c<strong>Ms. Marvel<\/strong>,\u201d which introduced Vellani as Kamala Khan, a.k.a. the young, New Jersey superhero Ms. Marvel.<\/p>\n<p>The official \u201c<strong>The Marvels<\/strong>\u201d synopsis from Marvel Studios reads: \u201cCarol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol\u2019s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After helming 2021\u2019s \u201c<strong>Candyman<\/strong>\u201d reboot, director Nia DaCosta will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut with \u201c<strong>The Marvels<\/strong>\u201d \u2014 a feat that makes her the first Black woman, and fourth woman, to direct a film in the MCU. DaCosta co-wrote the screenplay with Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.<\/p>\n<p>South Korean actor Park Seo-joon, best known for his roles in \u201c<strong>Parasite<\/strong>\u201d and the TV series \u201c<strong>Itaewon Class<\/strong>,\u201d also stars in the film. Other confirmed cast members include Saagar Shaikh, Zenoiba Shroff and Mohan Kapur as Kamala\u2019s older brother, mother and father, respectively, along with Zawe Ashton in an undisclosed villain role.
