You\u2019re risking something that you\u2019re lucky to have, which is the ability to finance a movie.\u201d Costner endorsed this attitude by declaring: \u201cPeople might look at this and say, \u2018Oh, this is a gamble.\u2019 And I go, \u2018Well, I guess it is, but do I want to go to Vegas and gamble\u2019\u201d No. I\u2019m not that kind of gambler. I gamble on the love of story.\u201d<br \/><br \/><em><strong>Horizon<\/strong> <\/em>is the first of four films set in the American West of the nineteenth century, that legendary era when the frontier was \u201chome on the range\u201d to hordes of Americans following the dictum, \u201cGo West, young man.\u201d <em><strong>Megalopolis<\/strong> <\/em>is arguably Horizon\u2019s dystopic twin: a story about rebuilding a huge city that has been leveled by a seismic event.<br \/><br \/>In the interview with <em>Deadline<\/em>, Costner called Horizon a \u201cconventional Western with a beginning, middle, and end.\u201d For a time, Disney considered making the film, but the two parties couldn\u2019t agree on the level of fiinancing. But the director would not let his dream die, declaring that \u201cAt the end of the day, I\u2019m a storyteller, and I went ahead and put my own money into it. I\u2019m not a very good businessman, so, scratch your head, if you will. I don\u2019t know why, but I have not let go of this one. I\u2019ve pushed it into the middle of the table three times in my career and didn\u2019t blink.
