{"id":16993,"date":"2023-05-25T20:45:46","date_gmt":"2023-05-26T00:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=16993"},"modified":"2023-12-12T03:49:11","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T08:49:11","slug":"james-cameron-working-on-new-terminator-installment-if-ai-approves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=16993","title":{"rendered":"James Cameron Working on New &#8216;Terminator&#8217; Installment, If AI Approves"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<pre>James Cameron @Avatar<\/pre>\r\n<p>A new <strong>Terminator<\/strong> film is in the works, but director James Cameron has revealed that he\u2019s not going to release it until he first sees how moviegoers are responding to the phenomenon of artificial intelligence (AI).<br \/><br \/>Speaking at the Dell Technologies World 2023 confab, Cameron was quoted as saying he was \u201cholding off on finishing [<em><strong>Terminator<\/strong><\/em>] until the direction of #AI becomes clearer.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Cameron\u2019s first <em><strong>Terminator<\/strong> <\/em>movie was released in 1984, and he created a sequel, <em><strong>Terminator 2: Judgment Day,<\/strong><\/em> in 1991. He returned to the franchise as a producer on the sixth installment, <em><strong>Terminator: Dark Fate<\/strong><\/em>, released in 2019.<br \/><br \/><em><strong>Dark Fate, <\/strong><\/em>which starred Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, seemed aptly named because the production was marred by Cameron\u2019s creative disagreements with director Tim Miller. The film tanked hugely at the box office and was panned by many critics.<br \/><br \/>It seems unlikely that Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role in the new <em><strong>Terminator<\/strong><\/em>. He has been quoted as saying that he was \u201cdone\u201d with the project. &#8220;The franchise is not done. I\u2019m done,\u201d he said. \u201cI got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to <em><strong>The Terminator<\/strong><\/em>. Someone has to come up with a great idea.\u201d <br \/><br \/>While discussing his involvement with the franchise, Schwarzenegger acknowledged his debt to the films he appeared in, declaring that &#8220;<em><strong>The Terminator<\/strong><\/em> was largely responsible for my success, so I always would look at it very fondly.
