In an interview with <em>GQ<\/em> magazine, the Oscar-winning screenwriter claims that the world was not ready for a feminist-themed character, noting that she \u201cshit the bed\u201d because the studios wanted an \u201canti-Barbie\u201d character.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cWhen I was first hired for this,\u201d she recalled, \u201cI don\u2019t think the culture had \u2026 embraced the femme or the bimbo as valid feminist archetypes yet. If you look up Barbie on TikTok, you\u2019ll find this wonderful subculture that celebrates the feminine, but in 2014, taking this skinny blonde white doll and making her into a heroine was a tall order.\u201d <br \/><br \/>According to Adam Nayman, who wrote the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/barbie-movie-first-attempts-amy-schumer-diablo-cody\"><em>GQ<\/em> story<\/a>, Cody preferred a more \u201caffectionate and idiosyncratic\u201d treatment of the Barbie doll character, who would have been played by Amy Schumer if Cody had her say.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThat idea of an anti-Barbie made a lot of sense given the feminist rhetoric of ten years ago,\u201d Cody was quoted as saying.<br><div style=\"position:absolute;left:-99195px;\"> online pharmacy <a href=\"https:\/\/auburnchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/png\/chloroquine.html\">buy chloroquine<\/a> with best prices today in the USA <\/div>\n<br> \u201cI didn\u2019t really have the freedom then to write something that was faithful to the iconography; they wanted a girl-boss feminist twist on Barbie, and I couldn\u2019t figure it out because that\u2019s not what Barbie is.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Cody noted that she \u201cgrew up playing with Barbies, and those were sort of the first movies that I ever cast.\u201d But she admitted her inability to come up with a treatment that would satisfy the studio, declaring that \u201cI have made several swings at IP with <em><strong>Barbie<\/strong> <\/em>and <em><strong>Powerpuff Girls<\/strong><\/em>, and I take full responsibility for the failures of those attempts because I do have a specific voice and POV, and I haven\u2019t figured out how to modulate it.\u201d <br \/><br \/>\u201cI mean, nobody really wants to delve deeper into the lore and mythos of Hungry Hungry Hippos,\u201d she added. \u201cThat\u2019s not really an artistic exercise.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Cody had initially been tapped to rewrite a 2014 script by Jenny Bicks, formerly of <em>Sex and the City<\/em>.
