BILLIE EILISH has shared her contribution of her work on a highly anticipated film, \u201cBarbie<\/strong>.\u201d Her new song called, \u201cWhat was I Made For?\u201d\u00a0which she also directed.<\/p>\n

The star-studded Barbie soundtrack got another A-list addition. Her new track is a total departure from the galvanizing pop production of \u201cBarbie World\u201d by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice.\u00a0Her haunting tune was previously teased in one of the Barbie trailers, but now it\u2019s here in full version.<\/p>\n

\u201cwe were so deeeeeply moved.. that the next day we were writing and COULDNT shut up about it lolll andddddddddd ended up writing almost the entire song that night,\u201d Eilish wrote in an Twitter<\/a> post following the video\u2019s premiere. \u201cto be real with you this all seemed to happen in a time when i really needed it. i\u2019m so so thankful for that. this video makes me cryyyyy.. it means so much to me and i hope it will mean just as much to you. don\u2019t have much to say other than that, i think it will speak for itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the video, Eilish\u2014dolled up in \u201950s fashion\u2014The singer sits at a desk and unpacks doll-sized outfits from a Barbie box. She is struggling as the ground shakes and rain begins to pour.\u00a0Eilish co-wrote \u201cWhat Was I Made For?\u201d with her brother, Finneas, who produced it at his home studio in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Eilish is one of several big names on the soundtrack to Greta Gerwig\u2019s take on the world of Mattel\u2019s massively popular dolls. Dua Lipa, who plays a Barbie mermaid in the movie, contributed \u201cDance the Night,\u201d with Gerwig making a cameo in the single\u2019s music video.<\/p>\n

Besides Eilish, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice joined forces on \u201cBarbie World,\u201d which samples Aqua\u2019s 1997 hit \u201cBarbie Girl.\u201d Charli XCX, Tame Impala, Lizzo, Haim, PinkPantheress, and more all appear elsewhere on the soundtrack. It arrives in full when “Barbie<\/strong>” hits theaters nationally on July 21.<\/p>\n
