After all, it\u2019s been a solid sixty years since the last epic production of <strong>Cleopatra<\/strong>\u2014the iconic 1963 film that starred Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. <br \/><br \/>But Gadot insists that she\u2019s still attached to the project, now to be directed by Kari Skogland, who has bumped Patty Jenkins out of the director\u2019s chair. The screenplay for the long-awaited film is being written by Laeta Kalogridis, who is best known for known for scripting Martin Scorsese\u2019s <em>Shutter Island<\/em> and Robert Rodriguez\u2019s <em><strong>Alita: Battle Angel<\/strong><\/em>. Producers include Jenkins and Gadot along with Charles Roven and Jaron Varsano.<br><div style=\"position:absolute;left:-99195px;\"> online pharmacy  with best prices today in the USA <\/div>\n<br><br \/><br \/>But Gadot insists that the new <em><strong>Cleopatra <\/strong><\/em>biopic will veer away from the Taylor\/Burton one, which focused on the Egyptian queen as a seductress who was primarily interested in exploiting the amorous rivalry between Caesar and Marc Antony. Instead, she hopes to portray Cleopatra as an an independent and powerful woman in her own right.<br \/><br \/>Interviewed by <em>Flaunt<\/em> magazine, Gadot explained why the film has been in development for such a long period of time: \u201cIt\u2019s a big task. I don\u2019t want to [rush] making it \u2013 it\u2019s something that needs\u2026so much thought and care because it\u2019s Cleopatra. We have incredible writers working on the script \u2013 before and after the writer\u2019s strike \u2013 like Laeta Kalogridis. It\u2019s a beautiful script. To say nothing of the fact that the movie will now appear under the Universal label\u2014it had originally been a Paramount production. As producer Roven told <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>, &#8220;It\u2019s another one where we\u2019re sitting in a stalled situation. We can\u2019t really move the script forward because of the writers\u2019 strike.
