The complete list of NYFF poster artists to date can be found below.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"markvl4lk8wbf\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Jarmusch<\/span> says of his design: \u201cSince arriving in New York City decades ago, attending the NYFF has been my version of going to church. I\u2019m honored to have been asked to create the poster for the 61st NYFF, joining a list of filmmakers, artists, and friends who have done so in the past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor this poster the image was pulled from the files of several thousand useless photographs I\u2019ve taken since getting my hands on a camera as a teenager,\u201d he continued. \u201cI consider them to be useless not necessarily in a negative way, but because they\u2019ve almost never had any intended \u2018use.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of my favorites are random, playful, or accidental,\u201d added the filmmaker. \u201cThis one\u2019s from the late \u201970s, an incidental portrait of a friend, hiding her face with a Japanese album cover from the 1960s. Its image is of film star Y\u00fbz\u00f4 Kayama (<i>The Sword of Doom<\/i>, <i>Red Beard<\/i>, S<i>anjuro<\/i>, etc.) and rock musician (!)\u2014an LP of his psychedelic surf band, The Launchers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The limited edition posters are <a href=\"https:\/\/e.wordfly.com\/click?sid=NTU1XzIxNDk2XzQ1ODA1XzcwMDc&amp;l=c2bfb0d9-fe36-ee11-a833-0050569d715d&amp;utm_source=wordfly&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=NYFF61Poster%2FArtistAnnouncement&amp;utm_content=version_A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">now available for purchase<\/a> via Posteritati. His films include <i>Stranger than Paradise<\/i> (1984, NYFF22); <i>Down by Law<\/i> (1986, NYFF24 Opening Night); <i>Dead Man<\/i> (1999); <i>Broken Flowers<\/i> (2005); <i>Only Lovers Left Alive<\/i> (2013, NYFF51); and <i>Paterson<\/i> (2016, NYFF54). His book <i>Some Collages<\/i> was published by Anthology Editions in 2021. He records and performs music with his band SQ\u00dcRL as well as with the lutenist Jozef Van Wissem.
