Age is not slowing Paul Verhoeven. The 85-year-old Dutch-born director of such sci-fi hits as RoboCop<\/strong>, Total Recall<\/strong>,<\/em> and Basic Instinct<\/strong><\/em> is working on two new films.

The first, Young Sinner<\/strong><\/em>, has been described as an \u201cerotic political thriller\u201d set in Washington DC. It narrates the story of a Congressional staffer who is \u201cdrawn into a web of international intrigue and danger.\u201d

As if that weren\u2019t enough to keep an octogenarian busy, Verhoeven is also planning to direct Sans Compter,<\/strong> a film adaptation of Philippe Djian\u2019s novel. The reports first surfaced in an article in the French magazine Premiere\u00a0<\/em>and confirmed by producer Sa\u00efd Ben Sa\u00efd. Verhoeven\u2019s 2016 film Elle<\/strong> <\/em>had been an adaptation of Djian\u2019s novel Oh<\/em>.

According to its synopsis, \u201cSans Compter<\/strong><\/em> tells the story of Nathan, a journalist, fascinated by Gaby, his mother-in-law, a poet. The latter lives in the same vast estate property as Nathan and his wife.

Verhoeven\u2019s work first became known in 1973 when he made the romantic drama Turkish Deligh<\/strong>t<\/strong><\/em>, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Film. It later was named Best Dutch Film of the Century at the Netherlands Film Festival. Other films he created during these early years included Keetje Tippel<\/strong><\/em>, Soldier of Orange<\/strong><\/em>, and The Fourth Man<\/strong><\/em>. His first film in Hollywood was Flesh and Blood<\/strong> <\/em>(1985).

After working in the United States for twenty years, Verhoeven returned to his native Netherlands to make Black Book<\/strong><\/em> (2006), which won him many awards.
