It had originally been slated as a television series only. The project by Donald and Stephen Glover is based on the Star Wars character Lando Calrissian.<br \/><br \/>On Thursday, Stephen Glover had declared on the podcast <em>Pablo Torre Finds Out<\/em>: \u201cIt\u2019s not even a show\u2026the idea right now is to do a movie.\u201d But Glover also acknowledged that the project would likely be delayed due to the ongoing strikes involving writers and actors.<br \/><br \/>The news represents yet another development in the evolution of the Lando production. In late 2020, it had been reported that Justin Simien of <em><strong>Haunted Mansion<\/strong> <\/em>fame was attached to the project. By the summer of 2023, it was confirmed that the Glover brothers would be writing and developing it instead, with the aim of making it into a Disney+ series. And in April of this year, Donald Glover confirmed he was considering reprising the role he\u2019d played in 2018, with <em><strong>Solo: A Star Wars Story.<\/strong><\/em><br \/><br \/>The character of Lando Calrissian had been originated by Billy Dee Williams in the 1980 film <em><strong>Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back<\/strong><\/em>. He reprised the role in <em><strong>Return of the Jedi<\/strong><\/em> (1983) and in <em><strong>Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker<\/strong><\/em> (2019).<br \/><br \/>Describing the Lando character as \u201ccharm incarnate,\u201d Donald Glover added that \u201cHe\u2019s kind of a maverick, which I don\u2019t think there\u2019s a lot of anymore. It\u2019s hard to be the smooth talker nowadays. Where\u2019s the line? That\u2019s also where the danger is. How close can you get without tripping over it?\u201d<br \/><br \/>Continuing, the actor said, \u201cThe past couple of years, this pandemic shit, it really had people experience time\u2026 People realize their time is valuable. You only get so much. I\u2019m not interested in doing anything that\u2019s going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I\u2019d much rather spend time with people that I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, and I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I like to hang out with.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Stephen Glover added that the brothers are committed to a high-quality production. As he explained to Torre: \u201cEverything that\u2019s worth doing has some risk to it, especially when you care about the quality of things. That\u2019s a big part of us. We don\u2019t want to do things that are just going to be mediocre, like \u2018Eh, they came, they went.
