Warner Bros. has released the second official trailer for its upcoming adventure film, Wonka<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. The trailer features Oscar-nominated actor Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet in the titular role from the family adventure comedy, which serves as the candymaker’s origin story.<\/p>\n

In the trailer, Wonka is determined to transform humanity one delicious chocolate bon bon at a time. “I guess it’s time to change the world,” Chalamet says as he portrays the eponymous chocolatier.<\/p>\n

In the prequel, a young Wonka must face off against a chocolate cartel that wants to keep him from practicing his craft. In order to offer him inspiration to stop the cartel, Hugh Grant, who plays Oompa Loompa, tells the protagonist in the trailer: “You should stand up to those bullies, give ’em the ol one-two.”<\/p>\n

In the trailer, Wonka also engages in several musical numbers, which includes dancing in a giant chocolate fountain. He also tap dances in a magical factory as he fights back against threats from the cartel to stop making delicious chocolates.<\/p>\n

The upcoming feature serves as the anticipated prequel to the Oscar-nominated 1971 musical fantasy movie, Willy Wonka<\/strong> and the Chocolate Factory<\/strong><\/em>. The original film is the screen adaptation of author Roald Dahl’s beloved 1964 novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Wonka<\/strong><\/em> was directed by\u00a0Paddington<\/em><\/strong> helmer Paul King, who also created the story for the forthcoming prequel. He then went on to co-wrote the musical movie’s screenplay with Simon Farnaby.<\/p>\n

Besides Chalamet and Grant, the film also stars Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Matt Lucas, Natasha Rothwell, Tom Davis, Mathew Baynton and Farnaby. Wonka<\/em><\/strong>‘s ensemble cast also includes Peter Joseph, Rich Fulcher, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Calah Lane, Colin O’Brien, Rahkee Thakrar, Ellie White, Murray McArthur and Tracy Ifeachor.<\/p>\n

Chalamet, who’s reuniting with Warner Bros. on Dune: Part Two<\/em><\/strong> next year, shared the reason why he was interested in playing the iconic titular protagonist in Wonka<\/strong><\/em> with Vogue<\/a> in May. “To work on something that will have an uncynical young audience, that was just a big joy. That’s why I was drawn to it,” he shared in May.<\/p>\n

The Golden Globe-nominated actor added: “In a time and climate of intense political rhetoric, when there’s so much bad news all the time, this is hopefully going to be a piece of chocolate.”<\/p>\n

While speaking to PEOPLE<\/a> in July, King praised Chalamet’s talents. “I think what’s so remarkable about his performance is not only that he is funny and mischievous and quite mysterious, as well \u2014 just like the Willy Wonka that people will know \u2014 but also, he brings such heart to the role and he’s a brilliant actor.<\/p>\n

“He’s incredibly emotionally intelligent and can bring a great deal of emotional truth to the role,” the scribe-director added.<\/p>\n

King also said Chalamet is set to surprise some viewers with his singing and dancing abilities. “It’s really a tour de force for him there. He was rehearsing for months before we went to kind of that honing skills, which was a pleasure to watch,” the filmmaker divulged.<\/p>\n

Warner Bros. will begin releasing Wonka<\/em><\/strong> in theaters on December 8, including in the UK. The movie will then open in the U.S. on December 15.<\/p>\n
