He described the original film as \u201ca perfect movie\u201d that he saw \u201cgrow into something far bigger over the years.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Released in 1993 by Touchstone, the original <em><strong>Nightmare<\/strong> <\/em>film was a stop-motion animated film based on a story that Tim Burton had created. It narrates the saga of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, as he encounters his counterparts in Christmas Town. Skellington was so impressed with his experience there that he concocted a plot to kidnap Santa Claus in order to spread some Yuletide cheer among the ghosts and goblins in his own realm.<br \/><br \/>Selick was quoted in <em>People<\/em> as adding, \u201cI think Tim [Burton] in particular feels like, why mess with that? He certainly doesn\u2019t need to make more money from a sequel. He has had so many other successes, and so far nobody\u2019s come up with a great idea for a sequel. And I still think that Tim gets to decide. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any idea that would convince him.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Raising the possibility he might be interested in a prequel, however, Selick said \u201cThere might be a more interesting story there about how Jack became the King of Halloween Town.<\/p>\r\n<p>Chris Sarandon, who voiced Jack Skellington in <strong><em>Nightmare<\/em><\/strong>, has said he would \u201cabsolutely\u201d reprise his role in a new version. \u201cTo quote Henry, \u2018Fuck yeah,\u2019 \u201d he told said. \u201cIf there were a sequel, I\u2019d be there in a minute.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Besides Sarandon, the other actors in the voice cast included Catherine O\u2019Hara, William Hickey, Ken Page, Paul Reubens, Glenn Shadix, and Ed Ivory. <em><strong>The Nightmare Before Christmas<\/strong> <\/em>was later reissued by Disney Pictures and is currently streaming on Disney+.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/author\/edward-moran\/\">Check out more of Edward\u2019s articles.\u00a0<\/a><br \/><br \/><\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Director Henry Selick is hinting he might be interested in developing a prequel to The Nightmare Before Christmas, the acclaimed dark-fantasy film he\u2019d created some thirty years ago.
