The awards will be handed out during their annual ceremony on Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at Tao Downtown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?s=killers+of+the+flower+moon\">&#8220;Killers of the Flower Moon&#8221; <\/a>was awarded Best Film, the third film directed by Martin Scorsese to receive this award. Christopher Nolan was named Best Director for &#8220;<strong>Oppenheimer<\/strong>,&#8221; Lily Gladstone was selected as Best Actress for &#8220;<strong>Killers of the Flower Moon<\/strong>,&#8221; and Franz Rogowski was chosen as Best Actor for Passages. &#8220;<strong>The Boy and the Heron<\/strong>&#8221; was selected as Best Animated Film, marking the fourth time a Studio Ghibli film directed by Hayao Miyazaki has won the award. A Special Award was given to Karen Cooper for her five decades of creative leadership as director of Film Forum. Mick Gaw and Katherine Prior were awarded the student scholarships. I can\u2019t wait to honor them all at our annual dinner in January,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?s=NYFCC\">NYFCC<\/a> Chair Matt Singer of ScreenCrush.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Founded in 1935, the New York Film Critics Circle is the oldest critics group in the country, and among the most prestigious. The NYFCC\u2019s membership includes critics from daily and weekly newspapers, magazines and the web\u2019s most respected online publications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Every year the organization meets to vote on awards for the calendar year&#8217;s films, among the first of the major groups to pronounce its winners. Oftentimes the NYFCC\u2019s selections pave a path for Awards Season, while other times their picks stand proudly independent from other organizations.
