Paramount Pictures<\/a> has premiered the final trailer for its musical reboot of Tina Fey\u2019<\/a>s iconic teen comedy \u201cMean Girls<\/strong>\u201d which is coming to cinemas on January 12th. The final trailer for the film adaptation of the 2018 stage musical (based on Tina Fey’s 2004 classic teen film) finally <\/i>wears its Broadway roots on its sleeve.<\/p>\n

From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, Mean Girls<\/strong>. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice<\/a>) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called \u201cThe Plastics,\u201d ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Rene\u00e9 Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina\u2019s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina\u2019s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group\u2019s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli\u2019i Cravalho<\/a>) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.<\/p>\n

Tina Fey and Tim Meadows reprise their respective roles as Ms. Norbury and Principal Duvall in this alongside the new cast which includes Renee Rapp, Angourie Rice, Auli\u2019i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey as Damian, Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, Avantika, Mahi Alam, Christopher Briney, Bebe Wood, Ashley Park, Connor Ratliff and Jon Hamm.<\/p>\n

2004’s original Mean starred Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, amanda Seyfried, and Lacy Chabert ; Lohan portrayed Cady, a high school student who had just moved to the United States from Africa and faced social isolation at her new school. She is then introduced to the complexities of high school’s social hierarchies when she meets teen queen bees Karen Smith (Seyfried), Gretchen Wieners (Chabert), and their leader Regina George (McAdams) \u2014 the trio fiercely known as The Plastics.<\/p>\n

The \u201cMean Girls\u201d<\/strong> musical will feature music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne direct from a screenplay written by Fey based on Fey\u2019s Broadway musical adaptation of the 2004 movie.<\/p>\n

The movie will be released in theaters on Jan. 12.<\/p>\n
