All Rights Reserved.<\/p>\r\n<p>Director Troy Edward Shults is reportedly at work on a new film starring Abel Tesfaye, <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/uncategorized\/jenna-ortegas-beetlejuice-2-is-officially-happening-in-2024\/\">Jenna Ortega<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/barry-keoghan-to-play-billy-the-kid-in-upcoming-pic-by-bart-layton\/\">Barry Keoghan<\/a>. The news was revealed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldofreel.com\/blog\/2024\/1\/4\/bjbar8vw2tfrdb75rfbn5850li6f6n\"><em>World of Reel<\/em><\/a> story, which added that Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) and Reza Fahim would be co-authoring the script with Shults.<br \/><br \/>Shults came to prominence with his critically acclaimed debut film <strong><em>Krisha<\/em><\/strong>, which was released in 2015, followed by <em><strong>It Came At Night<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Waves<\/strong><\/em>.<br \/><br \/>Though details have not been announced, it\u2019s rumored that the new film is to be a loose remake of <em><strong>Misery<\/strong><\/em>, the film that Rob Reiner made back in 1990 as an adaptation of a Steven King novel. Reiner\u2019s <em><strong>Misery<\/strong> <\/em>starred James Caan, Kathy Bates, and Lauren Bacall in a story about a novelist (played by Caan) and the deranged nurse (played by Bates) who sequesters him in her remote cabin after rescuing him in a car crash during a blizzard.<\/p>\r\n<p>In Shults\u2019s upcoming remake, Ortega will reportedly play a deranged fan stalking The Weeknd, to be played by himself. According to press reports, the film will open with the real-life incident in 2015 when the musician lost his voice during a concert.<\/p>\r\n<p>Producers of the new Shults offering will reportedly include Tesfaye, Fahim, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss. Other principals will include Chayse Irvin as cinematographer and Daniel Lopatin as composer. Irvin is noted for her recent work on <strong><em>Blonde<\/em><\/strong>, Andrew Dominik\u2019s fictionalized account of the life of Marilyn Monroe. Lopatin, also known as Oneohtrix Point Never or OPN, is an experimental electronic-music composer who has\u00a0 composed the scores for the films <em><strong>Good Time<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Uncut Gems<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<p>The Weeknd has recently been seen in <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/the-idol-has-fallen-at-hbo-cancelled-after-first-season\/\"><em><strong>The Idol<\/strong><\/em><\/a> series at HBO.
