All Rights Reserved.<\/p>\r\n<p>Martin <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/martin-scorsese-meets-pope-francis-plans-to-make-a-new-film-about-jesus\/\">Scorsese<\/a> plans to make a new film about Jesus that will be quite different from his controversial 1988 film <em><strong>The Last Temptation of Christ<\/strong><\/em>. According to an interview he gave to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/awards\/story\/2024-01-08\/martin-scorsese-killers-of-the-flower-moon-new-jesus-film\"><em>Los Angeles Times<\/em><\/a>, his new film will be based on <em>A Life of Jesus<\/em>, the 1973 novel written by Japanese author Sh\u016bsaku End\u014d. <br \/><br \/>Shooting for the 80-minute-long film is expected to begin later this year from a script written by Kent Jones. It will focus on the core teachings of Jesus \u201cin a way that explores the principles but doesn\u2019t proselytize,\u201d said Scorsese.\u201d The director added that \u201cI\u2019m trying to find a new way to make [these teachings] more accessible and take away the negative onus of what has been associated with organized religion.&#8221;<br \/><br \/>This is not the first time Scorsese has adapted a work by End\u014d for the screen; his 2016 film <em><strong>Silence<\/strong><\/em>, which starred Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver, was based on the eponymous novel that the Japanese author had written in 1966.<br \/><br \/>In his interview, Scorsese acknowledged the difficulty some people might have with the subject matter of his upcoming film. \u201cRight now, \u2018religion,\u2019 you say that word and everyone is up in arms because it\u2019s failed in so many ways,\u201d he admitted. \u201cBut that doesn\u2019t mean necessarily that the initial impulse was wrong. Let\u2019s get back. Let\u2019s just think about it. You may reject it. But it might make a difference in how you live your life \u2014 even in rejecting it. Don\u2019t dismiss it offhand. That\u2019s all I\u2019m talking about. And I\u2019m saying that as a person who\u2019s going to be 81 in a couple of days. You know what I\u2019m saying?\u201d<br \/><br \/>Scorsese\u2019s 1988 film <em><strong>The Last Temptation of Christ<\/strong><\/em> generated much controversy for its portrayal of Christ as experiencing sexual temptations.
