The Golden Raspberry Awards\u00a0(the \u201cRazzies\u201d) for the worst films and performances of 2023 have just been revealed, marking the 44th year of the competition.

Each year, the Razzies are announced just before the Oscar nominee list, which is slated for release on Tuesday. According to the Golden Raspberry folks, the nominations are made by \u201c1,179 movie buffs, film critics and journalists from 49 U.S. states and two dozen foreign countries.\u201d The eventual winners of the 44th annual Razzies will be announced March 9, the night before the Oscars.

Topping this years Razzie roster is Expend4bles<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, which captured seven nominations in various categories, including worst picture. It was described as: \u201canother installment of a franchise that\u2019s fading faster than Razzie \u2018winner\u2019 Donald Trump\u2019s mental acuity.\u201d

Following are excerpts from the Golden Raspberry\u2019s comments about the other four unfortunate movies that have made the worst-film list:

The Exorcist: Believer<\/strong><\/em><\/a>: \u201ca 50-years-later remake\/rip-off that was horrifying in unintended ways\u2026\u201d Meg 2: The Trench<\/strong><\/em><\/a>: \u201ca fishy tale about a snarky shark that flopped across all seven seas\u2026\u201dShazam! Fury of the Gods<\/strong><\/em><\/a>: \u201cone of 2023\u2019s several comic book movies failing to save the superhero genre\u2026\u201dWinnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey<\/strong><\/em><\/a>: \u201ca defamation (and defecation) on two of the most beloved Kiddie Lit characters, \u2018re-imagining\u2019 the huggable denizens of the Hundred Acre Wood as vicious, cannibal serial killers\u2026\u201d

In the running for worst actor are Russell Crowe, Megan Fox, Jennifer Lopez, Helen Mirren, and Sylvester Stallone<\/a>. Among this group, Fox, Lopez, and Stallone are “repeat offenders,” having received Razzie nominations in previous years.

In announcing its nominees, the Golden Raspberry organizers noted: \u201cAfter strikes, lingerings of a worldwide plague and a general sense of universal agoraphobia, the decline of the cinematic experience goes without saying. Thankfully, a doll pic and a bomb movie jump-started the Industry, which still left behind a trail of Pooh for the Razzies to pick up!\u201d
