Nominations for the 2024 Academy Awards were announced today, led by Oppenheimer,<\/a> Poor Things<\/a>, Killers of the Flower Moon<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, and Barbie<\/em><\/strong>.<\/a>

Oppenheimer<\/strong> <\/em>snagged 13 nominations, Poor Things<\/strong><\/em> got 11, followed by Killers of the Flower Moon<\/strong><\/em> with 10, and Barbie<\/strong> <\/em>with eight. These four films are contending for the Best Picture Oscar, along with six other movies: American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Maestro, Past Lives<\/strong><\/em> and The Zone of Interest<\/strong><\/em>.

The much-awaited nominees in 23 categories were announced<\/a> in a live feed from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater, with Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid doing the honors. The final winners will be announced on Sunday, March 10 when the 96th Academy Awards will be presented in the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, hosted again by Jimmy Kimmel.

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor Things<\/strong><\/em> is a steampunk-inflected film about a Victorian-era woman brought back to life after her suicide. It stars Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo in a comedic jaunt around Europe and Egypt. Stone also received a nomination for Best Actress and Ruffalo captured one for Best Supporting Actor.

Among the other nominees are two Japanese productions: Takashi Yamazaki\u2019s Godzilla Minus One<\/strong><\/em> <\/a>(Best Visual Effects) and Hayao Miyazaki\u2019s The Boy and the Heron<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (Best Animation). Both are set during the WWII era. Yamazaki\u2019s film imagines Japan being attacked by monsters, while Miyazaki\u2019s is an anime about a young boy who enters a fantastical world while mourning for his mother.
