This also isn\u2019t Domingo\u2019s first experience with a project involving Nat King Cole, he also created and co-wrote the play \u201c<strong>Lights Out: Nat \u2018King\u2019 Cole<\/strong>.\u201d<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He also said this to the <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/film\/awards\/colman-domingo-oscar-nom-rustin-euphoria-nat-king-cole-movie-1235887152\/\">Variety Awards Circuit Podcast<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019m looking forward to putting together with some great partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nat King Cole was one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He began his career as a jazz and pop vocalist in the late 1930s, recording over 100 chart-topping songs in music history, notably songs like \u201cUnforgettable,\u201d \u201cSmile,\u201d and \u201cLet There Be Love,\u201d \u201cNature Boy, \u201cMona Lisa\u201d and sold over 50 million records. Even though he passed away in 1965 at only 45 years old, his songs have remained iconic in the years since, and The Grammy Awards gave Cole a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990, and he also was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Domingo is nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in <strong><i>Rustin<\/i><\/strong>, playing the title role of civil rights leader Bayard Rustin. He was also cast as Joe Jackson, a controversial talent manager and father of pop star Michael Jackson \u2014 in the upcoming biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua. Some of Domingo\u2019s other notable roles over the years include Private Harold Green in <strong>Lincoln<\/strong>, Ralph Abernathy in<strong> Selma<\/strong>, Unicron in <strong>Transformers: Rise of the Beasts<\/strong>, and most recently, Bayard Rustin in <strong>Rustin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>His diverse Broadway resume includes writing the book for <i>Summer: The Donna Summer Musical<\/i>, co-producing <i>Fat Ham<\/i> and a Tony Award-nominated performance in <i>The Scottsboro Boys<\/i>, as well as a brief run in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>Domingo is already filling up his 2024 calendar. He executive produced the horror movie \u201c<strong>It\u2019s What\u2019s Inside<\/strong>,\u201d which premiered at Sundance and Sold for 17 million\u00a0to Netflix.<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019ll also appear in feature films such as Ethan Coen\u2019s \u201c<strong>Drive-Away Dolls<\/strong>\u201d and Greg Kewdar\u2019s \u201c<strong>Sing Sing<\/strong>,\u201d which he also produced.<\/p>\n<p>Domingo is represented by Gersh, Liebman Entertainment, Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin &amp; Dunham.<\/p>\n<p><a
