{"id":21869,"date":"2024-02-06T15:30:37","date_gmt":"2024-02-06T20:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=21869"},"modified":"2024-02-06T17:52:21","modified_gmt":"2024-02-06T22:52:21","slug":"david-leitch-in-talks-to-direct-jurassic-world-for-universal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=21869","title":{"rendered":"David Leitch In Talks to Direct &#8216;Jurassic World&#8217; for Universal"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>@Photo by Scott Garfield &#8211; \u00a9\u00a0Sony Pictures Entertainment<\/p>\r\n<p>Universal Pictures has announced that filmmaker David Leitch is being considered for the job of directing the next <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/reviews\/jurassic-world-dominion-video-review-above-the-line-vs-below-the-line-episode-25\/\"><em><strong>Jurassic World<\/strong><\/em><\/a> installment, which is scheduled for release on July 2, 2025.<br \/><br \/>An article in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/jurassic-world-david-leitch-direct-new-movie-1235816630\/\"><em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> also noted that David Koepp would be writing the script. Koepp had penned Steven Spielberg\u2019s original <em><strong>Jurassic Park<\/strong><\/em> movie back in 1993, as well as its sequel <em><strong>Jurassic Park: The Lost World<\/strong><\/em>, which debuted in 1997. The <em><strong>Jurassic Park<\/strong><\/em> franchise emerged from an adaptation of Micheal Crichton\u2019s eponymous 1990 novel. Its six features have grossed $6 billion worldwide.<br \/><br \/>Spielberg, via his Amblin Entertainment venue, will also be executive producer of the new release, as yet untitled. Leitch will also take on a producer\u2019s role along with Frank Marshall, Patrick Crowley, and Kelly McCormick.<br \/><br \/>Sources had earlier told <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that a \u201cnew Jurassic era\u201d was in store with the new film, leading to speculation that a few the characters in some of the earlier <em><strong>Jurassic<\/strong> <\/em>episodes would not be returning.<br \/><br \/>Leitch is regarded as a major player in the action-film genre, via a credit portfolio that includes <em><strong>Bullet Train, Deadpool 2<\/strong><\/em>, and <em><strong>Atomic Blonde<\/strong><\/em>. He was not credited as the co-director of <em><strong>John Wick<\/strong><\/em>, a 2014 film he worked on with his colleague Chad Stahelski. Together with Stahelski, the versatile director\/performer had opened 87Eleven, an action design production company, in 1997. Leitch also directed several other Universal properties, including <em><strong>Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw<\/strong> <\/em>and <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/everything-everywhere-all-at-once-actress-stephanie-hsu-joins-ryan-gosling-in-the-fall-guy\/\"><em><strong>The Fall Guy.<\/strong><\/em><\/a> The latter film stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, and is scheduled for release on May 3.<br \/><br \/>The 48-year-old Leitch also served as a <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/action-to-explore-the-world-of-hollywood-stunt-performers-via-david-leitch-and-kelly-mccormick\/\">stunt double<\/a> five times for Brad Pitts five and twice for Jean-Claude Van Damme. He also shared a 2008 Taurus World Stunt Award with Kai Martin.
