Though nothing has yet been finalized, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/02\/ridley-scott-bee-gees-movie-1235827580\/\"><em>Deadline<\/em><\/a> is reporting that Scott would also produce the as-yet-untitled film along with Michael Pruss, Graham King, and Stacey Snider. John Logan, who will write the script, had earlier been the screenwriter for Scott\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/ridley-scott-says-gladiator-2-will-be-ready-for-production-after-release-of-his-napoleon-movie-kitbag\/\"><strong>Gladiator<\/strong><\/a> <\/em>and <em><strong>Alien Covenant<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<p>Over the past few years, three other directors had been considered for the Bee Gees project: <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/kenneth-branagh-set-to-direct-live-action-gargoyles-movie\/\">Kenneth Branagh<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/john-carney-to-direct-and-john-logan-to-write-bee-gees-biopic-for-paramount\/\">John Carney<\/a>, and Lorene Scafaria.<br \/><br \/>This would not be the first time the 86-year-old Ridley Scott will have been linked to the Bee Gees. Back in the 1970s, Robert Stigwood, the group\u2019s manager, tried to enlist Scott to work on <em><strong>Castle Accident<\/strong><\/em>, a film that would feature the three Bee Gee brothers: Barry, Robin, and Maurice. That firm film was never made, though Scott remained interested in the group ever since.<br \/><br \/>Paramount acquired rights to the Gibb family estate in 2019, which included rights to the band\u2019s music. The Bee Gees sold more than 220 million records over the years, making it one of the most commercially successful groups ever. The three Gibbs brothers began performing folk and soft rock music in the 1950s and helped fuel the disco craze by writing songs for <em><strong>Saturday Night Fever,<\/strong><\/em> the iconic movie that starred John Travolta. Maurice Gibb died in 2003 at the age of 53, and Robin died in 2012 at 62.<br \/><br \/>Ridley Scott\u2019s latest project is the <em><strong>Gladiator<\/strong> <\/em>sequel, starring Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, and Pedro Pascal. It is scheduled to make its theatrical debut on November 22.
