Fans of actress Scarlett Johansson<\/a> are eagerly awaiting the release of Eleanor the Great<\/strong><\/em>, her feature directorial debut from Sony TriStar.<\/p>\r\n

Eleanor the Great<\/strong> <\/em>narrates the saga of Eleanor Morgenstern, a 90-year old woman who, after the death of her best friend, decides to start a new life by returning to New York City after having long ago retired to Florida.<\/p>\r\n

No release date has yet been announced for the film, which was originally titled Eleanor, Invisible<\/strong><\/em>. The filmscript was written by Tory Kamen, a veteran of the television series The Mick<\/em><\/strong>. Johansson will be producing the feature via These Pictures, Pinky Promise, and Maven Screen Media.<\/p>\r\n

Starring in Eleanor the Great<\/strong><\/em> will be June Squibb<\/a> and Jessica Hecht<\/a>. Squibb, a 94-year-old Oscar nominee, is a veteran of such productions as Nebraska, Palm Springs, Life & Beth<\/em><\/strong>, and Thelma<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. Her performance in Nebraska<\/em> <\/strong>earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Hecht\u2019s acting credits include Breaking Bad<\/strong><\/em> and The Boys<\/strong><\/em>. On Broadway, Johansson and Hecht had appeared together in A View from the Bridge<\/em>, for which they each received a Tony nomination.

The cast of Eleanor the Great<\/strong><\/em> will also include several of Johansson\u2019s colleagues in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), such as Chiwetel Ejiofor<\/a> of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/strong> <\/em>and Erin Kellyman<\/a> of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n

The 39-year-old Johansson was the world\u2019s highest-paid actress in 2018 and 2019, and was named by Time<\/em> magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2021. Her films have grossed more than $14.3 billion worldwide, making her the highest-grossing star of all time. She made her film debut as a child of 10 in the fantasy comedy North<\/strong><\/em>. Her first adult role was in the 2003 film Lost in Translation<\/strong><\/em>, directed by Sofia Coppola. Johansson also appeared in several Woody Allen films, including Match Point, Scoop<\/strong><\/em>, and Vicky Cristina Barcelona<\/strong><\/em>.

For the MCU, Johansson played the role of the Black Widow in Iron Man 2<\/strong>, <\/em>reprising the role in eight features, including her solo feature Black Widow<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (2021).<\/p>\r\n
