We were honored to deepen our relationship with the release of his two latest films, &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?s=mirai\">Mirai<\/a>&#8220;<\/strong> and &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?s=belle+\">Belle<\/a>&#8220;<\/strong>\u00a0and are excited to now be able to showcase the full breadth of Hosoda\u2019s ambitious storytelling across his film catalog, featuring some of the most acclaimed and successful Japanese animated films of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-p1\">Hosoda\u2019s six out of five films have received the Japan Academy Prize and also landed an Oscar nomination for 2018\u2019s \u201c<strong>Mirai<\/strong>\u201d and remains the only Japanese animation director outside of Studio Ghibli to receive an Academy Award nomination for best animated feature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-p1\">\u201c<strong>Summer Wars<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>Wolf Children<\/strong>\u201d<i>\u00a0<\/i>are set to enter the GKIDS\u2019 catalog immediately. \u201c<strong>The Girl Who Leapt Through Time<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>The Boy and the Beast<\/strong>\u201d are expected to enter the catalog next year. The films are planned for new theatrical and home video releases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail-p1\">GKIDS has previously released Hosoda&#8217;s later two films &#8220;<i><strong>Mirai<\/strong>&#8220;<\/i> and &#8220;<strong>Belle<\/strong>,&#8221; and also previously handled the theatrical release of &#8220;<i><strong>Summer Wars<\/strong>&#8220;<\/i> in the United States. 2021\u2019s \u201c<strong>Belle<\/strong>\u201d became Hosoda\u2019s highest-grossing film to date in North America. Both films made their respective world premieres at the Cannes Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The director\u2019s work is produced by Studio Chizu, whose catalog is represented internationally by Charades, and the new deal was negotiated between Eric Beckman at GKIDS and Yohann Comte and Carole Baraton at Charades on behalf of Studio Chizu.<\/p>\n<p>Bandai Entertainment\u00a0previously released &#8220;<strong><i>The Girl Who Leapt Through Time&#8221;<\/i><\/strong> on DVD in 2008, and on Blu-ray Disc in 2011.
