Gillespie\u2019s recent films include <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/cruella-2-gets-long-awaited-update-from-emma-stone\/\"><em><strong>Cruella<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt5580036\/\"><em><strong>I, Tonya<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, and he also directed the <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/reviews\/pam-tommy-tv-review-a-examination-into-poignant-love-and-gender-double-standards\/\"><em><strong>Pam and Tommy<\/strong><\/em><\/a> television series for Hulu.<br \/><br \/>As first reported in <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/04\/supergirl-craig-gillespie-1235875238\/\"><em>Deadline<\/em><\/a>, DC hopes to shoot <em><strong>Supergirl<\/strong> <\/em>once the studio has completed work on James Gunn\u2019s <em><strong>Superman<\/strong><\/em>. That movie is now shooting in Georgia for a planned theatrical release on July 11, 2025. <br \/><br \/><em><strong>Supergirl<\/strong> <\/em>was inspired by a 2022 comic book series by Tom King called <em>Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow<\/em>, illustrated by Bilquis Everly. The story is being adapted for film by screenwriter Ana Nogueira. <br \/><br \/>The upcoming film is being produced by Gunn in collaboration with Peter Safran, another DC honcho. Chantal Nong, DC\u2019s executive vice president, will reportedly act as executive producer.<br \/><br \/>Gunn was quoted last year as saying that the <em><strong>Supergirl<\/strong> <\/em>movie would reveal \u201cthe difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl.
