{"id":22895,"date":"2024-04-08T17:55:54","date_gmt":"2024-04-08T21:55:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=22895"},"modified":"2024-04-08T17:55:54","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T21:55:54","slug":"jonathan-major-sentence-to-year-of-dv-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=22895","title":{"rendered":"Actor Jonathan Majors Sentenced to 52 Weeks for Domestic Violence Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"p1\">\u00a9Lovecraft Country\/Courtesy of HBO<\/p>\r\n<p>Actor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm3718007\/\">Jonathan Majors<\/a> has been sentenced to spend 52 weeks in a domestic-violence intervention program for third-degree reckless assault and harassment.<br \/>He had been convicted in December on the charges, which are punishable by up to one year in prison. If he does not satisfactorily complete the program in Los Angeles, he could still be sentenced to 364 days in jail on the misdemeanor charge.<br \/><br \/>Judge Michael Gaffey also put in place a protection order for Majors\u2019s ex-girlfriend actress\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm9499977\/\">Grace Jabbari<\/a>. She testified that on March 25, 2023, Majors had assaulted her while the two were riding in an automobile. According to Jabbari\u2019s testimony, she grabbed the actor\u2019s cellphone when she saw a text message from another woman that read \u201cOh how I wish to be kissing you.\u201d\u00a0 Meyers responded by prying her fingers from the device, twisting her forearm and striking her head, she said. The harassment charge stemmed from the fact that Meyers later threw her back into the vehicle.<br \/><br \/>After a <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/jonathan-majors-domestic-abuse-trial-set-for-august-3\/\">trial<\/a> that lasted two weeks, a jury convicted Majors on two charges while finding him not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree.<br \/><br \/>When he was sentenced on Monday of this week, Majors was in court with his current girlfriend Meagan Good, who had been with him during the entire trial. He appeared to be reading from a Bible before the sentencing was imposed.<br \/><br \/>Jabbari was not convinced that Majors was going to mend his ways. \u201cHe\u2019s not sorry. He has not accepted responsibility, and he will do this again. He will hurt other women. This is a man who believes he\u2019s above the law,\u201d she said, adding that \u201cI will not rest until I feel that he\u2019s not a danger to anyone else.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Majors still must deal with a civil suit filed by Jabbari, who is accusing him of assault and battery dating back to 2022, as well as defamation.<br \/><br \/>As a result of his legal troubles, Majors was dropped by Marvel Studios from his role as Kang the Conqueror in upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films. He was also dropped by his public-relations firm, The Lede Company, and by his managers at <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/jonathan-majors-parts-ways-with-manager-entertainment-360-after-facing-domestic-violence-allegation\/\">Entertainment 360<\/a>.<br \/><br \/>Jabbari\u2019s attorney Ross Kramer, who approved of the verdict, was quoted as saying: \u201cWhat Grace Jabbari did over the past year was incredibly brave, and important. She overcame every obstacle put in her path to give honest, emotional, public testimony, in a court very far from her home. Grace demonstrated that justice can be served in cases like this.
