Apartment 7A<\/strong><\/em>, the anticipated prequel to the classic 1968\u00a0 psychological horror movie, Rosemary’s Baby<\/strong><\/em>, has received an official release. The origin story will premiere this fall exclusively on Parmount+<\/a> in the U.S. and in select international markets, Deadline<\/a> is reporting.<\/p>\n

Apartment 7A<\/strong><\/em> will star three-time Emmy-winning actress, Julia Garner. The drama will be directed by Natalie Erika James. The filmmaker previously garnered acclaim in the genre space when she wrote and helmed the 2020 horror mystery feature, Relic<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Paramount+ is set to release Apartment 7A<\/strong><\/em> after the studio produced Rosemary’s Baby<\/strong><\/em>. The original movie was penned and directed by Roman Polanski. The project stared Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes as a young couple who are trying to start a family but find themselves tormented by strange neighbors.<\/p>\n

According to an official logline, Apartment 7A<\/strong><\/em> will be set in 1965 in New York City. It will chronicle the events that occurred before Rosemary’s Baby<\/em><\/strong>, including what happened in the apartment before Rosemary and her husband moved in.<\/p>\n

In the prequel, Garner will play a struggling, young dancer who suffers a devastating injury in the titular apartment. As a result, she finds herself drawn in by dark forces when a peculiar, well-connected, older couple promises her a shot at fame.<\/p>\n

Besides Garner, the upcoming feature will also star Dianne Wiest (Mayor of Kingstown<\/strong><\/em>), Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe<\/strong><\/em>) and Kevin McNally (the Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em><\/strong> film series) in major roles. The supporting cast will include Marli Siu (Everything I Know About Love<\/strong><\/em>), Andrew Buchan (All the Money in the World<\/em><\/strong>), Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean<\/strong><\/em>) and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Wonka<\/strong><\/em>).<\/p>\n

Jeff Grossman, the executive vice president of programming at Paramount+, announced the upcoming movie’s streaming release in a statement. He noted that “We did not expect a Rosemary’s Baby<\/em><\/strong> prequel any time soon, but we’re admittedly intrigued by the premise here, and it doesn’t hurt that Apartment 7A<\/em><\/strong> will be working with such an excellent cast.”<\/p>\n

Grossman added that “Apartment 7A<\/strong><\/em> is the perfect way to kick off the Halloween season. Director Natalie Erika James and the prodigious creative team have crafted a chilling and clever new entry into the genre.”<\/p>\n

Apartment 7A<\/strong><\/em> is a Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night production from producers John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. The upcoming film’s executive producers include Vicki Dee Rock and Alexa Ginsburg.<\/p>\n

Apartment 7A<\/em><\/strong> is based on the novel Rosemary’s Baby<\/em><\/strong> by Ira Levin. James co-scribed the script with Christian White and Skylar James, the latter of whom also created the screen story.<\/p>\n
