The jury for the 77th Cannes Film Festival<\/a> has been selected. To be led this year by Barbie director Greta Gerwig<\/a> (USA), the five-woman, four-man jury includes some of the leading figures in contemporary global cinema: Juan Antonio Bayona<\/a> (Spain), Ebru Ceylan<\/a> (Turkey), Pierfrancesco Favino<\/a> (Italy), Lily Gladstone<\/a> (USA), Eva Green<\/a> (France), Hirokazu Kore-eda<\/a> (Japan), Nadine Labaki<\/a> (Lebanon), and Omar Sy<\/a> (France).

This year\u2019s eleven-day festival opens on May 14, with the coveted Palme d\u2019Or to be awarded at its close on May 25. Among the films competing for that prize include Francis Ford Coppola\u2019s Megalopolis<\/strong><\/em>, Yorgos Lanthimons\u2019s Kinds of Kindness<\/strong><\/em>, Andrea Arnold\u2019s Bird<\/strong><\/em>, David Cronenberg\u2019s The Shrouds<\/strong><\/em>, and Ali Abbasi\u2019s The Apprentice<\/strong><\/em>. The latter film is a biopic about Donald Trump, starring Sebastian Stan as the young real-estate mogul.

The festival will open with Quentin Dupieux\u2019s The Second Act<\/strong><\/em>, which is not competing for this year\u2019s Palme d\u2019Or. Other films that will premiere out of competition include George Miller\u2019s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga<\/strong><\/em>, and Kevin Costner\u2019s Horizons: An American Saga\u2014Chapter 1<\/strong><\/em>.

As of 29 April, the newly created jury will be evaluating the following 22 films that will be in competition at the 77th Cannes Festival. (Names given are those of the director):
