It was originally supposed to appear on <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/news\/vin-diesel-announces-new-fast-and-furious-installment-will-debut-in-april-2025\/\">April 4, 2025<\/a>, but the recent SAG-AFTRA strike played havoc with scheduling.<br \/><br \/>In a panel this weekend at CCXP MX, Leterrier said that the new installment is \u201chappening very, very soon.&#8221; He was quoted as telling <a href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/fast-11-filming-release-window\/\"><em>Collider<\/em><\/a>, \u201cI\u2019m able to shoot a little horror movie this summer. I\u2019m finishing my horror movie on September 15th, and I start [pre-production] of <em><strong>Fast<\/strong> <\/em>on September 16th.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<p>Leterrier added that \u201cIt\u2019s filming early next year, and it\u2019s coming out in 2026, which will be exactly to the day, 25 years since the first one came out [on June 22, 2001].\u201d The release date, however, has not yet been confirmed by Universal. Leterrier noted that the upcoming film will be set in Los Angeles, as was the original movie in the series: \u201cThat&#8217;s what we wanna do. We wanna bring it back home, and still have a great big journey to tell.&#8221; <br \/><br \/>The first film in the series was penned by screenwriters Gary Scott Thompson, Erik Bergquist, and David Ayer. It was based on \u201cRacer X,\u201d an article in <em>Vibe<\/em> magazine by Ken Li. The early episodes focused on illegal street racing. Beginning with<em><strong> Fast Five<\/strong><\/em> in 2011, the theme shifted toward heists and spying. In 2018, Universal created a spinoff with the film <em><strong>Hobbs &amp; Shaw<\/strong><\/em>. At the same time, DreamWorks Animation, a Universal subsidiary, released an animated streaming TV series titled <em><strong>Fast &amp; Furious Sky Racers<br \/><\/strong><\/em>. <br \/><em><strong>Fast X<\/strong><\/em>, the latest installment in the popular series, was written by Oren Urizel and Christina Hodson and starred <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000234\/\">Charlize Theron<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0004874\/\"> Vin Diesel<\/a>.
