Jake Gyllenhaal<\/a> will be reprising his role as Dalton in an upcoming sequel to Road House<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, says Amazon MGM Studio. He will be joining other cast members Daniela Melchior, Conor McGregor, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, B.K. Cannon, and Joaquim de Almeida.<\/p>\r\n

The announcement was made by Amazon MGM\u2019s Jennifer Salke during a presentation to advertisers in New York on Tuesday of this week. Salke was quoted in Variety<\/em><\/a> as saying:\u201cAs we saw this spring the world went crazy for a little movie called Road House<\/strong><\/em>. Nearly 80 million viewers globally have watched [the film].. We like to watch these results like a baby.\u201d Details about the plot and release dates have not yet been released.<\/p>\r\n<\/ins>\r\n

Amazon Prime Video released Road House<\/strong><\/em> in March of\u00a0 2024 as a remake of a 1989 version directed by Rowdy Herrington and starring Patrick Swayze. According to the synopsis of last year\u2019s film, which was directed by Doug Liman: \u00a0\u201cIn this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

It’s also not clear whether Liman will be directing the upcoming sequel. Liman\u2019s directorial credits include The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith<\/strong><\/em>, and Edge of Tomorrow<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n

The 2024 Road House<\/strong><\/em> film was scripted by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry and produced by Joel Silver.<\/p>\r\n

Jake Gyllenhaal comes from a distinguished show-business family. He is the son of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner, and the younger brother of actress Maggie Gyllenhaal. He made his acting debut in City Slickers<\/strong><\/em> in 1991 and soon thereafter appeared in two of his father\u2019s films, A Dangerous Woman<\/strong><\/em> and Homegrown<\/strong><\/em>. His breakthrough roles were as Homer Hickam in October Sky<\/strong><\/em> and as a troubled youth in Donnie Darko<\/strong><\/em>. He received an Oscar nomination for his role as Jack Twist in Ang Lee\u2019s Brokeback Mountain<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<\/ins>\r\n
