Opening only in theaters Nov. 27, 2024, \u201c<strong>Moana 2<\/strong>\u201d reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she\u2019s ever faced.<\/p>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\n<p>Disney announced in February that there will be a sequel to &#8216;Moana&#8217; that will be released later this year, which was unexpected given that animated sequels are usually announced years in advance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;We were impressed with what we saw, and we knew it deserved a theatrical release,&#8221; Disney CEO Bob Iger said during a February earnings call.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In the original film, Moana leaves her home, the island of Motunui, to adventure across the sea with help from Maui, a shape-shifting demigod. The movie was a hit for Disney in 2016, grossing $687 million worldwide, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/title\/tt3521164\/?ref_=bo_se_r_1\"><span class=\"s1\">Box Office Mojo<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, <strong>Moana 2<\/strong> features music by Grammy\u00ae winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa\u02bbi, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.<\/p>\n<p>Although Auli\u2019i won\u2019t be starring in the live-action, her\u00a0<em>Moana<\/em>\u00a0costar, Dwayne Johnson, will be reprising his character of Maui.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHumbled to say we\u2019re bringing Moana\u2019s beautiful story to the live-action big screen!
