Discovery platform.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The series, which was initially developed by Max&#8217;s executive team of Bob Greenblatt, Kevin Reilly, and Sarah Aburey, was picked up directly to series in mid-2019 and was initially set to be part of Max when it launched in 2020. Even though the series had its setback due to the pandemic shut down production worldwide, but the series was launched in April 2022 and received positive reviews. The show&#8217;s average rating among critics is 89 percent and its audience rating is 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Jake Adelstein wrote Tokyo Vice, a nonfiction book that detailed his experience with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat and his daily journey into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Originally pitched as a two-season show with the events of the series having ended with its April 4 fiinale, fittingly titled \u201cEndgame,\u201d star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm5052065\/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1\">Ansel Elgort<\/a> also only signed on for two seasons of the series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOver the last five years, Max has made sure we got to tell our story. They have supported us through thick and thin. Not only did they give us these two seasons, they said yes when we asked to End season onewith a series of cliffhangers, and they said yes when we asked for two extra episodes so we could land the plane in the way [creator] J.T. [Rogers] had always envisioned,\u201d Rogers and director Alan Poul\u00a0said in a joint statement. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful not only to Max but to our partners Fifth Season, who sold the show around the world and made it a global success story.<\/p>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\n<p class=\"p1\">They were in the\u00a0trenches with us always, guaranteeing that we could make the show we wanted to make. The response from both the\u00a0press and from fans,\u00a0in particular to season two, has been overwhelming. It\u2019s been thrilling to find out how deeply viewers have engaged with our characters\u00a0and to hear how they are clamoring for more. We know there is more\u00a0story to tell. Of course, we\u2019ll see what the future holds, but we are indeed grateful to have been able to share this story on Max until now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cFrom\u00a0<i><strong>Tokyo Vice<\/strong>\u2019<\/i>s richly\u00a0written\u00a0material to the gorgeously composed shots to the lived-in performances, the care and creativity of this enormously talented cast and crew shines in every frame of the show. We thank\u00a0J.T.,\u00a0Alan, Ansel, Ken [Watanabe], Fifth Season, and [Tokyo TV station] Wowow for their partnership on this wholly unique modern noir thriller.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><i><strong>Tokyo Vice<\/strong> <\/i>is the latest series to has come to an end, at least for now. In a joint statement provided ahead of Saturday\u2019s announcement, Rogers and Poul indicated that though the show\u2019s active run is over at Max, they still hope to produce more <strong>Tokyo Vice<\/strong>\u00a0at some point.
