In Joshua John Miller\u2019s <\/span>The Exorcism<\/i><\/b>, <\/b>Russell Crowe plays washed-up actor Anthony Miller, who has suffered from alcohol and drug addiction, but when he\u2019s hired to play a Catholic priest in a horror movie about demonic possession, he starts experiencing all sorts of strange occurrences. Ryan Simpkins plays his daughter Lee, who also begins to see changes in her father as he gets further into his role, while Adam Goldberg plays the movie\u2019s director, who has his doubts whether the actor he\u2019s hired can handle the role.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some may be familiar with Miller from his role in Kathryn Bigelow\u2019s 1987 vampire movie, <\/span>Near Dark<\/i><\/b>, playing the young vampire, Homer, and the drama <\/span>River\u2019s Edge<\/i><\/b> a year earlier. He\u2019s mostly been on break from acting to work as a writer, <\/span>The Exorcism<\/i><\/b> being his first feature as a director in almost 25 years. It\u2019s also interesting to note that Miller\u2019s father was Jason Miller, who played Father Karras in the William Friedkin-directed <\/span>The Exorcist<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>back in 1973, his experiences on that troubled set forming some basis for his son\u2019s new horror film.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

Simpkins has been acting since they were seven years old, but in recent years, they starred in Netflix\u2019s <\/span>Fear Street<\/i><\/b> trilogy, based on the books by R.L. Stine, while Goldberg has spent the last few years starring on the CBS series, <\/span>The Equalizer<\/i><\/b>, both which we spoke with the actors about when <\/span>Cinema Daily US <\/span><\/i>was able to talk to them over Zoom last week. <\/span><\/p>\n
