People’s pursuit of a fresh start can often be at odds with others’ recollection of their past decisions and struggles. Their journey for change can also be hindered by society’s perceived notion of how successful they should be at the current stage in their life. That’s certainly true for Kerry Washington’s protagonist of Paige Alexander, a family and marriage therapist, and her recently paroled father on Hulu’s comedy series, UnPrisoned<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Throughout the show’s upcoming second season, Paige continues to struggle with her personal relationships, despite the successes she has garnered throughout her career. She’s\u00a0 notably still contending with her father, Edwin (Delroy Lindo), moving in with her and wishing to reconcile their relationship after he spent the past 17 years in prison.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

The protagonist is also grappling with the realization that her behavior in adulthood has been based on her father’s actions throughout her childhood. As a way to reflect on how the pain from her father’s absence in her childhood has affected her adulthood, she manifests a younger version of herself, Little Paige (Jordyn McIntosh), throughout the series.<\/p>\n
