Jennifer Lawrence<\/a> has a busy year ahead of her. She will be starring in a film adaptation of Why Don\u2019t You Love Me? <\/strong><\/em>being developed by A24, and has also been chosen for the leading role in The Wives<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, another movie by Apple Original Films and A24. That film is a murder mystery inspired by the Real Housewives<\/strong><\/em> saga.

Based on Paul B. Rainey\u2019s 2023 graphic novel, Why Don\u2019t You Love Me?<\/strong><\/em><\/a> has been described as a dark sci-fi comedy that explores the marital struggles of an unhappy couple dealing with depression, alcoholism, and other ills. When news broke about the project, a clearly enthused Rainey posted the following tweet: “Not a dream! Not a hoax! Not a mental breakdown! A24 has optioned the rights to Why Don\u2019t You Love Me?<\/strong><\/em> with plans to develop my graphic novel for film! Jennifer Lawrence is set to star. \u2026”

Robert Funke<\/a> has been tapped to write the screenplay, but no director has yet been named. Funke is best known as the screenwriter for the series On Becoming a God in Central Florida<\/strong><\/em>. Lawrence, who established the Excellent Cadaver production company in 2018, is also listed as a producer of Why Don\u2019t You Love Me?<\/strong> <\/em>along with colleagues Justine Ciarrocchi, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Emily Hildner. She also produced the Apple documentary Bread & Roses<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, directed by Sahra Mani, about the plight of Afghani women living under the rule of the Taliban.

Over the years, the 33-year-old Lawrence has been nominated for four Academy Awards, winning an Oscar for best actress for Silver Linings Playbook<\/strong><\/em><\/a> in 2013. She won a Golden Globe nomination for appearing in No Hard Feelings<\/strong><\/em>, a sex-themed comedy for Sony. Lawrence also recently starred opposite Byron Tyree Henry in Causeway, another Apple film in which she portrayed a military veteran struggling to adjust to civilian life.

Lawrence\u2019s films have been highly profitable, grossing more than $6 billion worldwide. She was the highest-paid film star in 2015 and 2016.
