FX\u2019s Sh\u014dgun<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>will be receiving four awards at tonight\u2019s 40th annual Television Critics Association<\/a> awards ceremony, according to an advance announcement by the TCA.<\/p>\r\n

The event, hosted by Wendi McLendon-Covey of The Goldbergs<\/em> and St Denis Medica<\/em>l, will be the association\u2019s first in-person ceremony in five years. More than 230 professional television journalists from the United States and Canada are members of the Television Critics Association.

In announcing the results, TCA\u2019s president Jacqueline Cutler said: \u201cIt was a year of brilliant television, from an epic historical drama to a harrowing documentary. We\u2019re thrilled to honor all who created these shows, often against great odds, as many were worked on during the pandemic and stopped for the strikes. Congratulations to all of the winners.\u201d

Adapted from James Clavell\u2019s novel set in feudal Japan, Sh\u014dgun<\/strong> <\/em>won the following awards: Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, Individual Achievement in Drama (for Anna Sawai<\/a>), and Outstanding New Program.

Industry observers feel that Sh\u014dgun<\/strong> <\/em>will also be a major contender at this year\u2019s Emmy awards, with nominations scheduled to be revealed next week.

The only other program to receive more than one award at this year\u2019s TCA ceremony will be Max\u2019s Hacks,<\/strong><\/em><\/a> which captured the prizes for Outstanding Achievement and Individual Achievement in Comedy (for Jean Smart, who\u2019d also won the award in 2021.

TCA\u2019s Heritage Award will be presented to Twin Peaks<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, and its Career Achievement Award will be presented posthumously to the late Andre Braugher<\/a>.\u00a0

Outstanding achievement in family programming: Doctor Who<\/em> (Disney+)
Outstanding achievement in variety, talk or sketch: John Mulaney Presents: Everybody\u2019s in L.A.<\/em> (Netflix)
Outstanding new program: Sh\u014dgun<\/em>
Outstanding achievement in miniseries, movies or specials: Baby Reindeer<\/em> (Netflix)
Outstanding achievement in drama: Sh\u014dgun<\/em>
Outstanding achievement in comedy: Hacks<\/em>
Program of the year: Sh\u014dgun<\/em>
Career achievement honoree: Andre Braugher
