Additional venues this year include the\u00a0Queens<\/span>\u00a0Public Library at Forest Hills, and Yant Tattoo Studios \u2013 the Official\u00a0Film<\/span>maker Lounge. This year the\u00a0festival<\/span>\u00a0expands its programming with special presentations at the\u00a0Queens<\/span>\u00a0Center Mall in Rego Park. The\u00a0festival<\/span>\u00a0opens with Ivy Vale\u2019s coming of age musical\u00a0Out of My Comfort Zone<\/i><\/b>\u00a0and closes with the world premiere of Delfine Paolini\u2019s\u00a0A Wonderful Way with Dragons<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n

Festival<\/span>\u00a0of Cinema NYC will once again celebrate the\u00a0film<\/span>\u00a0festival<\/span>\u2019s attending\u00a0film<\/span>makers with a pre-launch party inside Resorts World NYC\u2019s famous 360\u00ba Bar and Lounge (110-0 Rockaway Blvd)\u00a0on Thursday, August 1, In addition, FOC NYC will have an opening\u00a0reception the following night featuring the top 10 winning designs from the 2024\u00a0Festival<\/span>\u00a0of Cinema NYC poster design contest. The reception will take place at Yant Tattoo Studios in Forest Hills, the official\u00a0film<\/span>maker lounge for the 2024\u00a0festival<\/span>. Artwork will be on display\u00a0for the\u00a0entirety\u00a0of the event from August 2 – 11<\/p>\n

Along with its presentation of more than 100 screenings, and FOC NYC\u2019s popular Red Carpet entrances flush with seemingly countless\u00a0film<\/span>makers, actors, documentary subjects, and below-the-line talent, the\u00a0film<\/span>\u00a0festival<\/span>\u2019s footprint will expand\u00a0beyond the Regal UA Midway, by adding additional programming, that is free and open to the public, at the\u00a0Queens<\/span>\u00a0Library of Forest Hills, Yant Tattoo Studios, and\u00a0Queens<\/span>\u00a0Center Mall.\u00a0The jam-packed week and a half of screenings and events will conclude with an Awards Ceremony on August 11th at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in Jamaica\u00a0Queens<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Ivy Vale\u2019s musical\u00a0Out of My Comfort Zone<\/i><\/b>\u00a0opens the\u00a0film<\/span>\u00a0festival<\/span>\u00a0on Friday, August 2. The\u00a0film<\/span>\u00a0involves the tangled relationship triangle between two lifelong friends and a cyber bully who inadvertently sends their relationship to a very different place after outing one of them publicly. The screening will be preceded by\u00a0Raymond-Kym Suttle\u2019s\u00a0short\u00a0film<\/span>,\u00a0Groomed & Bridled.<\/i><\/b>\u00a0Delfine Paolini\u2019s\u00a0A Wonderful Way with Dragons<\/i><\/b>\u00a0screens on Saturday, August 10 as the Closing Night presentation. Starring 2024 FOC NYC\u00a0Festival<\/span>\u00a0Juror Raye Levine Spielberg, the holiday-themed drama follows a young woman with\u00a0a complicated relationship with her dysfunctional family, who must oversome those feelings to bring her family back together again when her mother disappears on Christmas Eve. Julien Hayet-Kerknawi\u2019s World War I set acton drama\u00a0The Last Front\u00a0<\/i><\/b>stars Iain Glen (Game of Thrones<\/i>) as\u00a0a grieving father tasked with leading villagers to safety while evading a relentless enemy driven by vengeance.\u00a0Oscar nominated director Matthew Heineman\u2019s documentary\u00a0The First Wave\u00a0<\/i><\/b>gives a \u201cyou are there\u201d experience as it\u00a0following nurses, doctors, and administrators in a New York City hospital as they respond to the victims from the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Heineman will be in attendance on Saturday August 10 for a 1-hour long moderated discusion and audience Q&A following the screening. Finally,\u00a0Festival<\/span>\u00a0of Cinema NYC will once again present its always popular Midnight Madness program of horror shorts on Friday, August 9.<\/div>\n

Queens<\/span>\u00a0local interest highlights include free-to-the-public programming by\u00a0Project Blackbird<\/b>\u00a0and the\u00a0Make A\u00a0Film<\/span>\u00a0Foundation<\/b>\u00a0on Sunday, August 5, at the\u00a0Queens<\/span>\u00a0Center Mall in Rego Park. Each organization will be doing presentations to raise awareness about their organization and how they serve the community. Both events will be free and open to the public. On Monday August 5, FOC NYC will present a special Red Carpet event for the Make A\u00a0Film<\/span>\u00a0Foundation featuring several\u00a0film<\/span>s made by the terminally ill children that have been supported by the organization.Ghetto\u00a0Film<\/span>\u00a0School returns to FOC NYC with a presentation at the Forest Hills Library on Tuesday, August 6, and screenings of new\u00a0film<\/span>s from their organization on Wednesday, August 7.<\/p>\n
