The 85-year-old auteur told<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv-movies\/tv-movie-features\/francis-ford-coppola-megalopolis-the-godfather-1235068854\/\"> <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> that he&#8217;ll working on two more films after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt10128846\/\"><strong><em>Megalopolis<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<br \/>Coppola declared that retirement was decidedly not an option, telling the interviewer of his current plans to make a drama set in England, as well as <strong><em>Distant Vision<\/em><\/strong>, which will chronicle three generations of an Italian American family.<\/p>\r\n<p>The first project he director plans to finance the latter project with the anticipated profits from <em><strong>Megalopolis<\/strong><\/em>, a dystopian film that tells the story of an architect bent on recreating a New York City that\u2019s been destroyed in a disaster. The self-financed epic is scheduled for release by Lionsgate on September 27. Coppola largely self-financed the $120 million film, partly by selling off some of his wineries.<br \/><br \/>As he told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>, \u201cI\u2019m working on two potential projects right now. One is a regular sort of movie that I\u2019d like someone to finance and make in England, because I don\u2019t have a big history with my wife in England. Everywhere else I go, I\u2019m reminded of her all the time. The other is called <em><strong>Distant Vision<\/strong><\/em>, which is the story of three generations of an Italian American family like mine, but fictionalized, during which the phenomenon of television was invented. I would finance it with whatever <em><strong>Megalopolis<\/strong> <\/em>does. I\u2019ll want to do another roll of the dice with that one.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Coppola made his first feature, <em><strong>The Bellboy and the Playgirls<\/strong><\/em> in 1962&#8211;some 62 years ago. He has since achieved legendary status with the such iconic films as <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0068646\/\">The<\/a> Godfather,<\/strong><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0078788\/\"><em><strong>Apocalypse Now<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0071360\/\"><em><strong>The Conversation<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, as well as memorable titles such as <em><strong>The Rainmaker, Rumble Fish,<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Bram Stoker\u2019s Dracula<\/strong><\/em>.<br \/><br \/>Despite ihe star power attached to Coppola\u2019s name, early reviews for <em><strong>Megalopolis<\/strong> <\/em>have been mixed.
