{"id":25914,"date":"2024-09-06T18:28:41","date_gmt":"2024-09-06T22:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=25914"},"modified":"2024-09-08T12:51:37","modified_gmt":"2024-09-08T16:51:37","slug":"nickel-boys-official-trailer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=25914","title":{"rendered":"NICKEL BOYS | Official Trailer : Starring Ethan Herisse, Brandon Wilson, Hamish Linklater, Fred Hechinger, Daveed Diggs, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Photo by Amazon MGM Studios &#8211; \u00a9\u00a0Amazon MGM Studios 2024<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Hearing the Oscar buzz for a new film every time it premieres in Venice or Telluride or Toronto is an exciting part of the fall season, and then getting our first glimpse when it releases a trailer for us a few days later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The process that&#8217;s always exciting has just happened to RaMell Ross&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?s=Nickel+Boys\"><strong>Nickel Boys<\/strong><\/a>, which immediately became a conversation starter when it premiered at Telluride earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Adapted from Colson Whitehead\u2019s Pulitzer Prize-winning 2019 novel of the same name,\u00a0Nickel Boys\u00a0\u201cchronicles the powerful friendship between two young Black teenagers navigating the harrowing trials of reform school together in Florida,\u201d per the film\u2019s official\u00a0<b>logline<\/b>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Although Nickel Boys Academy is a work of fiction, the story is derived from the gruesome abuse suffered by Black students at the Dozier School For Boys, a real institution that operated during the 1950s and 1960s in Florida during the height of the Jim Crow era in the south.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Starring Ethan Herisse, Brandon Wilson, Hamish Linklater, Fred Hechinger, Daveed Diggs, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (who turns in what Tomris Laffly calls \u201ca truly stunning performance\u201d in her review of the film for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/nickel-boys-review\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>The A.V. Club<\/i><\/span><\/a>),\u00a0<i>Nickel Boys\u00a0<\/i>is a narrative film seen through a documentarian\u2019s eye.
