Briarcliff Entertainment has released a trailer The Apprentice<\/strong>,\u00a0 <\/span>which based on Donal Trump\u2019s years as an unforgiving Manhattan real estate magnate, as well as his Manhattan semester under the tutelage of infamous lawyer Roy Cohn.<\/p>\n

The film, which is set to hit theaters in October after its controversial premiere at the Cannes Film Festival left it struggling to find a U.S. distributor, promises a \u201cdive into the underbelly of the American empire.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trailer shows an ambitious young Trump\u2014played by Sebastian Stan\u2014seeking out the advice of Cohn, a famous lawyer and political fixer played by Jeremy Strong, and getting several pieces of advice, including “Admit nothing, deny everything\u201d and \u201cNo matter what happens, you claim victory and never admit defeat.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

Sebastian Stan is the lead in the movie, with Succession Emmy-winner Jeremy Strong playing Cohn. Critics were thrilled when The Apprentice premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, not only because it was a salacious and headline-grabbing attempt, but because it was actually a contender for the Oscar.<\/p>\n

The Apprentice <\/i><\/strong>is an attempt to dig into the psyche of the man who became president\u2014and is now running again. But in the months following that premiere, the film became mired in controversy. Trump\u2019s ruthlessness and scenes depicting his sexual assault of Ivana Trump riled up his campaign. His team\u00a0threatened lawsuits<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that a\u00a0spokesperson said<\/span><\/a>\u00a0would \u201caddress the blatantly false assertions from these pretend filmmakers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Director Ali Abbasi\u2019s response to that threat: \u201cEverybody talks about him suing a lot of people\u2014they don\u2019t talk about his success rate though, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Dan Snyder, the billionaire former owner of the Washington Commanders, was a producer. Upset with the content of the film, he has since\u00a0sold his stake<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n
